FROM THE DIRECTOR

Director, Ashley McGlothren

I fell in love with Romeo and Juliet when I was 13. That year the flowery language and teenage angst hit me like a ton of bricks as we read the play in my English class. That was also the year I was fated to see Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes, and I was forever changed. If you're in your 30s, I know you feel me. The play has been near and dear to my heart ever since, and I have always wanted to be a part of a production of the Bard's most beloved love story.

I could have never imagined that one day I would be able to see it like this.

I initially brought the idea to the theatre one year ago after last year's Foo Foo Festival, never thinking that it would ever be a thing I would be in charge of any time soon. But I am so glad I was entrusted with this project. The process has been challenging but beautiful, and a whole year in the making. The cast and crew have been lovely to work with, and I am stunned at every performance by their immense talents.

Now, Come! Crush a cup of wine!

About the director

Ashley started acting at the age of 13 and has been acting and volunteering in the Pensacola area since 2017. She graduated with her BA in theatre from UWF in 2010.
